3 FILS | Modern Asian

We are 2+ years late and only just making up for it now! 3 Fils opened its doors to the UAE’s varied palates in November 2016 and is neatly tucked away in the back of the Jumeirah Fishing Harbour 1. If we were to make comparisons, this is the miniature version of Zuma in a HUGE way. If you know it, you are most definitely a regular. The inside venue decor is awesome and really pulls everything it represents together. It’s rustic and modern.

The bijou menu’s dishes on offer all provide their own wow factors. They look good and they sure as hell taste good. As it is not licensed, you will not be paying the outrageous alcohol premiums, but you are paying for a quality sharing meal at Dubai prices – which we need to add is worth it. You’ll easily spend AED 300 per couple which in hindsight, is perfectly acceptable for what you’ll eat.

Seaweed Salad
Crispy Eel
Scallops
Volcano
Spicy Beef Tartare
Charcoal

The Seaweed Salad with a variety of seaweeds in the mix, granny smith apples and caramelised walnuts are an absolute must. If you like Wings, these are the real deal. The Corn Waffles are piled up with Asian BBQ pulled beef, chipotle, avocado and coriander and the Spicy Beef Tartare on toast with pickled lime skins are ace dishes. The Charcoal dish is a complete surprise as they won’t tell you what’s inside them until you’ve tried them. Maybe we shouldn’t tell either?

Wings
Corn Waffles
Black Cod
Lamb Ribs

The Crispy Eel – unagi, foie gras and yellow pepper mayo is so fantastic, that we had it again on the second visit. Get the Black Cod! With its guajillo chilli sauce and Spanish onions, it’s a melt in your mouth treat. The Lamb Ribs with their spicy BBQ marinade were tender, but probably not the most exciting of tastes from the rest to order. We’ll get around to completing that menu soon enough.

Sakura Ebi capellini pasta, lobster oil, garlic.

Or just go for dessert! The Toothfairy is a saffron meringue, sour violet curd with blackberries. It might just be my favourite thing ever. The African Powerhouse of Ghana dark chocolate with Madagascar vanilla ice cream is on par though. The question is, are you for fruit or chocolate?
